All team members agree on the enormous potential of Gustonic. Gustonic is not a conventional web. Is a set of web applications integrated: inter-recipe book, planner, recipe book and user’s shopping list, who are serving the management of domestic food. In fact, the planner and shopping list are the applications that give Gustonic added value and the differential in relation to the pages we’ve visited on the Internet and are simply virtual cookbooks. From day one, when we decided to start doing Gustonic, didn’t want to do a simple web recipes. There are already many, many sites with thousands and thousands of recipes. We wanted to innovate and above all make a web application to provide new things and also could help us useful. And the community, of course.The cookbook of recipes -which will grow with contributions of members of the community-, is serving the applications tna Gustonic offers to the community.

The choice of the name of the project was vital for us once we decided to pull forward our idea. In one of our first meetings, we had a single point on the agenda: the election of the name. It was a priority item. Each of us had thought possible names. The only criteria that had to comply with the names that were needed to be a simple name, which was multilingual and accepted by the four team members. In the meeting we proposed more than 100 names but there was no consensus among everyone, so it was not possible to get the final name. After two days, Jordi sent an email with other possible names, including Gustonic. Then we all agree that he had to be without a doubt the name of our project. Gustonic comes from “Gusto” (Spanish), “Gust” (Catalan, English, French), and tonic was a termination with hook referring to the invigorating aspect of eating. And Jordi, the musician of the group, stressed the musical harmony of the name.

23-10-07. 07.00 p.m. Nogal restaurant. Barcelona. We’ve had a funny lunch. We’ve eaten a great “Paella”. Every thursday, as in all restaurants in Barcelona, on thursday there is “Paella” in the menu. Me, Llorenç, Marc and Pau, we meet every thursday in this “meetic” restaurant, just in front of my house. We enjoy the eating and the friendship. We talk about football, about meals, about busty women -of course-, about crazy ideas, about internet… Stupid comments usually, bright ideas exceptionally. The hours develope so fast!

We meet every thursday at 03.00 p.m. and we are always the lasts to leave the restaurant. The lights switch off, the chairs are placed on the tables, Chang Yu -our friendly waiter- cleans the floor… Our passionate discussing would never finish, and offten involve our tables neighbours, the chef of the restaurant, the waiters as Chang or Manolito…. We use to talk to them about how many ways to cook the chicken or the “Paella”, about the different sauces to accompaign the ton, about business (the chef of the restaurant always explains that he arrived in Barcelona 9 years old with nothing and than now he has 3 restaurants-… Every day the same history…

We love talking about meals too. Everyone has different flavors, different mothers -of course, ha, ha, ha! And fortunatelly for me!-, different grand-mothers! So we share this culinary background that everyone has obtained at home. As the italians say, “Mamma mia!”. Are passionate discussions, but not so as when we talk about F.C. Barcelona (Barça, our footbsll team).Many days we enjoy talking about the last news in internet, this unlimited world that changes every second and that generates news that we cannot avoid to comment: our “karma” in diggs, the last crazy news published in diggs about the messiatic projects of Google, the last version of EyeOS, the amount that costed the last start up, how much is going to cost EyeOS…

Me and Llorenç, older than Marc and Pau -20 years ingenuos “children”-, forget during some hours that we are married, that we have children, that we have to clean the dishes and change diapers cage when we’ll come back at home… Everyday, to have thursdays free to meet together, we have to convince ours wifes because they keep the children. As we said to Marc and Pau, when there are children, time is gold.

Just today, at 7.00, we’ve told about how useful would be to create a web aplication that helped us to organise our live, specially the meals… Just only one comment. But one comment that in the future would be the beginning of Gustonic! Next chapter soon…
